Goals of the week

I decided to make a quick post dedicated to some of the goals of the week today because of the fantastic performance and goals by Swansea against Nottingham Forest last night, as they beat them 3-1 on aggregate to go through to the Championship Play-off with a chance of Premier League football next season. Here is to hoping that Swansea can gain entry to the Premier league because they really have played fantastic football all season and deserve the step up. If you missed the game, have a look at all of the goals from the match last night:

In the game against Liverpool, Rafael Van der Vaart pulled off an excellently executed right-foot volley just from the edge of the area to put Tottenham 1-0 up at Anfield. Van der Vaart has been a revelation this season at Spurs with 13 goals and having stated that he has no intention of leaving Tottenham this Summer, Spurs fans’ can look forward to more of this:

Darren Bent is an expensive man having cost £16.5m, £18m and £24m respectively in this last 3 transfers but time and time again, he scores the goals to vindicate his price-tag. This weekend proved no different as he scored a couple of goals against Arsenal but his first goal was just sublime. Take a look:

David Beckham rolled back the years and scored a blinding free kick in the MLS this week. Makes you remember what he did for United and definitely makes me a bit nostalgic!

Now this one is a peach. Obraniak scored a free kick in the 89th minute of the French Cup final to give PSG a 1-0 victory. Not a bad time to score a free kick like this!

This next one is not only a contender for goal of the week but it is a contender for goal of the season most definitely. Scored in the lowly depths of the Spanish Fourth Division by Jorge Troiteiro, it is a fantastic display of quick feet and Messi-esque dribbling.

Place your votes on what goal is your favourite and if it isn’t in the list, just pop a link to the goal in the comments.
